Privacy Policy

Beattier ("the app", "we") is a music rating and social journaling app. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and what your choices are. The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we don't run ads, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't sell your data.

Who we are

Beattier is operated by its developer, based in Iceland, who is the controller of your personal data. For anything privacy related, contact berg@beattier.com.

What we collect

• Account information. You sign in with Apple or Google. From Apple we receive your Apple account identifier and the name and email address you choose to share (Apple lets you hide your real email). From Google we receive your Google account identifier, your name and your email address. You also choose a username and an optional display name, bio and avatar photo.
• Your content. The ratings, reviews, statuses, reactions, comments, tags and library entries you create in the app. When you change a rating, we keep a record of the change so the app can show your rating history.
• Subscription information. If you subscribe to Beattier Pro, we and our subscription provider RevenueCat receive your purchase history: which plan you bought, when it started, when it renews or expires, and whether it is a trial. We never see your payment card or billing details. Apple handles payment.
• Notifications. If you turn on push notifications, we store your device push token so we can deliver them.
• Preferences. App settings you choose (such as rating precision and theme), synced so they follow your account.

We do not collect your location, contacts, browsing history or advertising identifiers. The app contains no advertising and no third party analytics.

What stays on your device

The app keeps a copy of your library and ratings on your device so it works offline. If you add Home Screen widgets or use the Lock Screen rating feature, the data they show (such as recent ratings and album artwork) is stored on your device for them.

What's public

Beattier is a social app. Your profile (username, display name, bio and avatar), your ratings, reviews, statuses, comments and your music library are visible to other Beattier users. Features such as Taste Match compare your public ratings with another user's. Don't put anything in them you wouldn't want other users to see. Whether you subscribe to Pro is not shown to other users.

Why we process your data

• To provide the service: storing and syncing your library, showing your content to other users, delivering notifications and providing Beattier Pro if you subscribe (performance of our contract with you).
• To keep the community safe: handling reports, blocks and moderation (our legitimate interest in a safe service).

Music search and links

When you search for music or open an Apple Music or Spotify link in the app, the request goes through our server to Apple Music or Spotify. Those requests carry your search terms or the link, but no information about your account.

Where your data lives

Your data is stored with our hosting provider Supabase on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They process data only on our behalf and only for the purposes below.

• Supabase: database, authentication and file storage hosting.
• Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and push notification delivery.
• Google: Sign in with Google.
• RevenueCat: managing Beattier Pro subscriptions. RevenueCat receives your Beattier user identifier and your purchase history, not your name or email.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

Some of these providers (Apple, Google and RevenueCat) are based in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is protected by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: it removes your profile, content, library, rating history, subscription status, notifications, uploaded files and sign-in record from our servers. Reports you have filed about other users' content are kept for moderation, with your identity removed. Ratings stored on your own device stay on your device until you delete the app.

Deleting your account does not cancel a Beattier Pro subscription. Cancel it in your Apple account settings first. Apple and RevenueCat keep their own records of your purchases as required for their legal and accounting obligations.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your personal data, ask us to restrict or object to processing, and request a copy of your data in a portable format. You can edit your profile and content and delete your account directly in the app. For a copy of your data or anything else, email berg@beattier.com and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Iceland, that is Persónuvernd (personuvernd.is).

Children

Beattier is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above. Meaningful changes will be announced in the app.
